I am trying a new little blogging strategy that I snagged from Life in General, a fun blog that talks about, well, Life in General. It is also the place where I got the best ideas for my 12 Months of Dates gift to hubby for Christmas this year (more on that later).

Anywho, the goal is to just purge my ideas on what's going on in life today. Here goes:

Outside my window . . .Actually, I am outside, in the backyard trying to catch some rays! It's a sunny, beautiful 82 here in Florida! :)
I am thinking . . .of all the stuff I have to do today: plan for work, get the house in order, iron, and get lunches for the week. Also, that I am really HAPPY in spite of my to-do list!
I am thankful for . . .my husband. I can't even imagine having to put up with myself as cooly as he does, lol. Although I may get annoyed from time to time, he truly is an amazing guy, my best friend, and I'm lucky to have him in my life.
From the kitchen . . .I had a bagel....I've been slacking on making things in the kitchen this week. That combined with a lack of goodies, well...here I am, with a bagel, lol Hoping that some grocery shopping will remedy that issue.
I am creating . . . Christmas cards...yep, you read that right! I made a pack of Christmas cards from a set that was Clearanced in Target. I didn't have the time/energy to make cards this past year, and really thought I'd be okay with it. Now, seeing all of the adorable cards, complete with babies, big kids, pets, etc, I know I want my own, hand-made cards around again next year.
I am going . . .to work hard so that one of these blog entries, I can finally take that trip to Mexico!
I am reading . . .a book by Cathy Lamb, The Last Time I Was Me. I love her work, it's interesting, funny, and she does a great job at involving you in the book, making you fall for the characters, and helping you feel their joy/hope/love/pain! This particular book takes you on a journey; Alzheimer's, WWII, past abuse, and the loss of parents/loved ones are all woven through. It's the second time I'm reading it-excellent book!
I am hoping . . .that my very first Thirty-One Open House goes well this Friday! That's right, I have taken the plunge! I decided to sign up to become a Thirty-One Independent Consultant! I'm very excited, and ready to get the ball rolling...hey, maybe it could help me pay for that trip to Mexico ;)

I am hearing . . . the sound of the cars driving by. Since I'm from the city, I hardly notice it, and it can be pretty relaxing. There is also some country music playing...via Pandora :)
Around the house . . . urggghh, there are a few things to put together/install (Expedit, my kinda enemy, a Lack shelf, decorating, etc)
One of my favorite things . . . My new friend Henry! I found him at Target! I didn't buy him the first time I saw his little yarn covered self...but I just had to go back for him! He hangs around the house, right now, he's on a shelf in the living room. He's friendly, doens't talk back, takes himself to the bathroom when we aren't looking, and adds a bit of fun to the house.

A few plans for the rest of the week . . .clean, clean, clean...get some yummies ready for Friday, and have and awesome time at the Thirty-One open house!
A picture to share . . .this shows the power of the Florida sun. The tree has been out back for about a week (yes, I know, shame on us), just waiting to be cut down for yard waste. In less than 7 days, it looks like this!

I'd like to explain it away as I've been living the glamorous life, but I'm an awful liar! There's no excuse except that I've been lazy...haha. I changed positions at my job this year and I happen to be IN LOVE with my new position. I know not too many people have the opportunity to say that, so I am incredibly appreciative. I'm going to try hard to get back on track with my blogging because I think it helps me stay connected with friends while also serving as a diary-slash-motivator.
Anywho, I got to spend about a week or so back in PA/DE, my homeland, visiting friends and family. What an amazing time! Although it was COLD, Steve and I really enjoyed ourselves. We had fun seeing everyone, catching up and getting to meet many of the precious babies who were born while we were away. Here are some of my favorite pics from the trip.
Alrighty, now I'm back to business, I hope. I've also warmed back up {mostly} after the downright COLD of back home. Following My Dreamshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03093709734990365423noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6763637641597278966.post-53097976277554947372012-08-06T17:39:00.000-04:002012-08-06T17:39:17.434-04:00Gettin' Crafty Wit ItNa na na na na na na.....no...okay, so I was channeling my fellow Philly native, Will Smith as I was thinking about this post...he's obviously more talented, lol. But, I was pretty proud of the craftiness I've been coming up with lately. Some items are inspired from Pinterest....such as this Welcome sign:

I made mine by just printing the letters onto white paper, using a Curvy Cutter to cut the circles, the black are from cardstock, and then laminating them. Once I was finished, I added the purple ribbon. I really wanted blue, but I have SOOOO MUCH of the purple, just couldn't be wasteful. Maybe it will eventually get an update, you know, when the purple starts to fade....lol. Here's the back side so you can see how the ribbon is woven through.

One of my other recent crafty projects has been card making. I have made cards for about 4 years now, I think. I got so addicted to Stampin' Up products when a friend from work started to sell them. I honestly had no idea I would love it so much. I was such a scrapbooker! But, the finished product of a card comes a lot faster! It also feels really great to be able to sign something I made, from the heart. Here are some of my recent creations! Most of the stamps used are by Stampin' Up!

So, what kind of crafts have you been up to lately? Leave me a comment, or link to your blog, and let me know!
Following My Dreamshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03093709734990365423noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6763637641597278966.post-79878506501130757612012-08-03T23:13:00.002-04:002012-08-03T23:14:08.829-04:00The Dollar Tree is WHERE IT'S AT!!! Seriously! I so love a good bargain (ask my friends, I'm a cheapie! My husband even teases me b/c I always say, "I got it for cheap!" Who knew that wasn't a normal saying?) I can't believe the amazing deals I have gotten at that place! I know there are probably others out there, but this "Dollar Store" is legit, none of that 'Dollar Store' mumbo jumbo, then you get inside and your facing 2, 3 and even 5 dollar items. I know, how dare they! Anyway, back to my Dollar Tree love! The other day, I came away having purchased $32 (buckaroos, just cause it rhymes!) worth of stuff. Here's some of my hoard....I mean haul....is that right?

One of the first items I photographed happened to be a pain in my rear, lol These rolls of Kraft gift wrap have so many uses I could think of (wrapping paper, scrapbook pages, modge podge projects, bulletin boards, etc) and therefore couldn't pass them up

Let me begin this by saying that I JUST DELETED THIS ENTIRE POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Uggghhh!!! Now, back to our reguarly scheuled blog post.
Just two days after Nikki and Moni left, I was spoiled with another of my bestest friends, Casey Leigh! Casey and I have been friends since 4th grade! She is seriously more like my sister! We've been through so much together...happiness, sadness, true love, and loves lost! A real friend is one who can make it through all of that, and still love ya! lol. I'm lucky to call her my friend.
She's been going through a lot of stress lately, so, this little Florida trip was definitely in order! So, beings as she wanted to relax, what do I put on the agenda? Disney, of course! LOL! We began our trip with Hollywood Studios, then went to Magic Kingdom, and finally back to Hollywood Studios for some yummy Italian cooking ala Mama Melrose's. Yes, I had it twice....IN ONE WEEK! That's how good it is! (Disney, you can thank me later, lol)
The following day, we did relax poolside and followed it up with a day at the beach! Hopefully, the break was relaxing or at least distracting enough! I totally understand though, why she had to return home. A few times throughout the trip I had the pleasure of joining in on family chat time with her 2, almost 3 year old son, Ryan....Oh-Em-Gee, freaking cutest conversations! Not to mention, her new hubby probably missed her at home (<3)!
For whatever reason, we were pretty lax with the photos, as in, we only took two! These were taken at Downtown Disney the night before she left!
They have all the fun patterns, solids and styles you could ask for. I especially love the Organizing Utility Tote for going to work. Just pop in a Zipper Pouch and you're all set! Anyways, I am in love with one of the newer prints, Black Parisian Pop, and decided it would look great in my scrap room and to help me organize all of my Stampin Up goodies! I love the way they turned out!
Good Friends are Hard to Find! What an awesome weekend! The first thing you should know is that I LOVE surprises! It all began with one of our visitors....one of my best friends, Nikki, was coming down to visit for a quick girls weekend. It's pretty ridiculous how much she and I are alike (right down to a dislike for tomatoes, an unhealthy ability to talk, and thinking of the same person although we are totally calling them by the wrong name..ala Marilyn Manson for Charles...amongst others) so, I was obviously pumped to spend the weekend with her. When Steve and I met her at the airport, we were all giddy excited (Maybe not Steve as much, lol)!
The best part though was that suddenly, during our giddiness, the passenger door to her rent a car pops open and out comes one of my other besties, Moni (no blog for her though!) This was probably one of the biggest surprises anyone has ever gotten over on me. I had wishful thoughts that the third member of our trifecta would decide to come, but was more realistic. Woooo hooooo for dreams coming true! Seriously, I LOVE these girls! Even though I saw them a couple of days when I flew home to PA for a bridal shower and on another trip for my sister-friend's wedding, it was all a whirlwhind! I was getting these girls to myself for 4 days!!! (Imagine how excited my hubby was, lol!)
Anyways, our time was awesome sauce, but way too short! Our first night was super scandalous-we went to Bojangles (yummy bicuits!), Walmart and Winn-Dixie! ha ha! We did return home to have Mudslides, however! I must say, I am a pretty good bartender!
The night ended with Nikki falling asleep during Bridesmaids! When Moni and I woke her up, we thought she might kill us! Seriously, if only we videotaped it, it coulda won some type of prize on America's Funniest Home Videos!
The next day was a Disney marathon! We started at Animal Kingdom. If you've never been there, it is amazing! The safari alone is worth a trip! Here are a few a bunch of shots
After Animal Kingdom, we headed over to Hollywood Studios, where I apparently took zero pictures! The good news is that, we did eat at an amazing restaurant...Mama Melrose has to be my favorite place to eat at Disney. It's Italian and the Chicken Campanelle is to die for....it's like true love for your taste buds! I highly suggest eating here on your next Disney trip. Advance reservation recommended, it's a popular place! mmmm..... lol
Our third leg of the Disney trip took us to Magic Kingdom for fireworks! Their "Wishes" fireworks show is my favorite, though this is widely debated (some like Fantasmic at Hollywood Studios, others prefer Epcot's illuminations). Maybe I'm a little jaded since Steve proposed at the castle following the fireworks and it was all dreamy...lol. Anyways, we got some good shots after the show. I also took a video of the fireworks, but that would spoil all the fun!

It was a great, very tiring day that wasn't over yet! Moni lost her wallet in our travels! Thankfully, it was found and we were able to pick it up the next day. Otherwise, she'd just have to stay in Florida....fine with me, lol. Anywho, the trip went by in a whirlwind, and ended too soon with me getting all teary as they drove off to the airport...until next time though gals!
So, I'm pretty proud of our three park wonderment, Disney is a pretty big place, lol! Have you conquered four? I just love that we were able to have a girls weekend! It's amazing to have friends who love me!
So, it's been a week or so since I've last blogged (I totally typed blooged and laughed out loud)-time for a few updates! I didn't realize how busy we were going to be over the last week, whew! I'm worn out! We did four days of Disney, a day at Melbourne Beach (FL), and had a grand time! Here are some photos of the beach and a rainy day at MK!
Also exciting, our bedroom furniture that we ordered from Rooms-to-Go finally arrived. We knew it wouldn't be in until this late, it wasn't poor delivery service. We were pretty happy with the results! I am so excited to have the bedroom set, I feel like such a big girl!!!!! ha ha, We still need major decorations going on like lamps, a area rug, art, art, art, lol. But those things will come!
Now, the only real work we've gotten done (aside from painting most of the master bath, has been these DIY fabric covered cork boards. And by we, I mean me, lol. Hubby isn't all about the crafty fun that I am. The main reason I wanted to cover them was b/c the darned cork board that I bought (being the <strike>cheap</strike> frugal shopper that I am), kept flaking off, ALL OVER everything. I googled strategies for getting the fabric onto the cork and settled upon spray adhesive. I bought a few "Fabric Quarters" from Joann's (I so wish there was a JoAnn's closer, b/c I love them so much!) and got down to business. Here's my supplies:
I decided to spray the glue on in the garage. There was a time I used it for scrapbooking and I knew how tacky it could make everything. So, I got a big piece of cardboard and went to town. For me, instead of measuring and cutting and stapling, as suggested on many blogs, I went the <strike>lazy</strike> less difficult route~I just wrapped the edges like a present and glued onto the back. I did this b/c, well, I am lazy, and I didn't want any of the darn brown stuff flaking from the back either, lol. Here's my final product, what do you think? I haven't hung them yet b/c I keep worrying I'm going to want to move them. I am so indecisive!
July is going to be one busy rammer jammer (or is it ramma jamma, I researched and could not find a conclusive answer, so, here we are, lol)! I am so excited! This weekend, hubby's parents and our nephew will be coming down to spend the week with us! The following weekend, one of my besties will be joining me (who I will no doubt spend many hours giggling, getting lost, gossiping, and talking with), then, the last week of July will bring my sister friend-my best friend since like fifth grade-love this girl! I am so excited for this month!!!
This past week we have been working on guest room updates, painting purple people eating bathrooms (photos will be in an upcoming blog!), and beginning to class up the laundry room...we've been in "crap -people are going to see the stuff we've been putting off because there's no rush" mode. Ha ha, no big deal, but of course, since I had to commit us to starting these projects...now they have to be finished. Sometimes I just go overboard, lol! Anyways, we're still very excited about our visitors, and appreciate my {unnecessary} need to get things all prettified because I put a fire under our butts! Mind you, there's still plenty of areas left wanting! But, we'll get to those things in good time...like say when money is flowing a little easier! lol
So, How do you handle visitors? Are you like me and try to pretty things up? Do you let it all hang out (I reserve this for my closest friends, lol)!Following My Dreamshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03093709734990365423noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6763637641597278966.post-3357895561261704082012-07-06T23:36:00.002-04:002012-07-06T23:36:57.317-04:00Moving into the guest room! No, Steve and I didn't have a fight....we are both just so jealous that the guest room has seen so much transformation! It looks sooooo awesome! Well, to us anyways, lol! What do you think???? Let's take a little tour through history before I show you:
When we moved in, here is what the guest room looked like (Apparently I don't have any photos of the guest room empty on this computer, but check back for updates, they're around here somewhere!).
Pineapples and palm trees abound! While I love both, they just weren't really our style! Green walls, and beige carpets had to go, too! Next, we got our sleeper sofa from Rooms to Go. It's made by Cindy Crawford Home, great quality! We also added a rug that used to reside in our Master (right now the floor is still bare in there ): And then I hemmed up some curtains from IKEA (they turned out much better than the ones in the kitchen
But now, the whole reason for this guest room love fest............we have a gorgeous dresser! Seriously, it really classes things up! I feel like I'm entering a hotel! I also added a few odds and ends, also picked up at IKEA (I swear we have an IKEA house!) Check out this gorgeosity!
We are~for real~ in love with this room! ha ha!

Currently we are working on:

Removing wire shelving from laundry room; paint; replace with cupboards ($$)

Paint master bathroom; remove builder towel bar/fill/sand/repaint; hang ledge

continue making/purchasing art/locating decor for house

What are you working on? Anyone ever removed those builder towel bars/toilet paper holders. Word has it they are glued down and leave a nasty gash!

Following My Dreamshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03093709734990365423noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6763637641597278966.post-10197242790576734542012-06-30T11:03:00.004-04:002012-06-30T11:03:28.079-04:00Big Fail.... So, most people who know me find out at some point that there are just some things I don't know how to do that most people learn....one of these things is sewing! This has normally posed no issue for me, a secretary at my old work used to hem my work pants (5'4" with a bit of junk in the trunk=no petite pants, lol), and all was well. I also never really needed anything else sewn....correction: I did, but usually didn't sew it. How many of my old colleagues noticed my pants never had buttons? lol. In all honesty, it was like three pair, but i loved them and, therefore wore them alot, sans button, lol. I know, total fail, but I hope no one noticed. I did admit it to a crew of crafty ladies one day...they promised a button sewing lesson, but I think I moved too soon, lol!
Anyways, I'm rambling about my ridiculous-ness.....In my old house, we had pretty tall ceilings and average windows. In the new house...Dun, dun, dun.....most of the ceilings are 8 foot. While the windows are still average size....my curtains do not fit. Many are too long! No worries there, I just got out my hem tape and hemmed those babies up, like the IKEA ones below ($9.99 is a steal!)

So la-tee-da! Unfortunaly, some of the curtains I have are too short...by like 6 inches! So, after a conversation with a friend, I interpreted (the ditz that I am) that she suggested I take the hem out...to just lower it. So I did.....leaving me with this frayed mess!

It's not as bad from further back...temporarily at least

In a follow up conversation, she explained she meant to lower the curtain rod.....duh! I should have been blonde, seriously! We got a good laugh out of it anyway! Looks like I will be buying new curtains after all. Eventually...it's not too noticable...or is it? lol
He is such a wonderful man, I definitely do not deserve him! But he's stuck with me, lol! Anywho, I totally got all Pinterested in some of the cool gifts people had done for their loved ones. Here is the main image that I used for inspiration: kayladanelle. Anywho, I got down to business and here's the final product! I love it...except I really wanted to put our heads (cut out of photos) over our hometowns....but since the computer crashed I don't have my pics on here or Adobe available. So, for now there are stars, but those will be updated!
I am a sucker for closet organization by this trick! I know it seems anal and it has nothing to do with finding clothes, I just love the look of a rainbow in my closet, lol! I am finally getting around to revamping my brad, and flower organization system. For those of you interested, here is my old system: a painted tool storage thingy-ma-bob. It worked great for years. Probably a little too much space though. The white paint was also wearing off and you could see the red peeking through!
The guys who worked with me were very nice, got me the part I needed replaced, apologized, and made a phone call to see what kind of compensation they could offer. Truthfully, I was happy that it was recognized as a major inconvenience. Sometimes, you get those places who think there's no need to even apologize. The secret person on the other end...maybe he had to call Sweden, lol...they gave me $20 back to my credit card. To me, I was happy. Since the grand total for the three items was about 150 or so, it seemed reasonable. I will definitely go back for more furniture, we are just on a bit of a separation period, lol. Hubby, who wants the LARGE Expedit for his office told me that, since I'm now an "Expedit expert" I'd be putting his together.....NOT! lol.
So now, my scrapbook room is comfortable, not all disheveled! Yay, I feel better. Still VERY unorganized....but better. I'm in the process of purging some items that I just don't use. I will be giving them to some of my scrappy friends :) here are some updated photos!
Other than my IKEA insanity, I have totally been slacking on the blog and updates! Sorry, it's been a hectic month for many reasons! First things first, you can see our new floors in all of these posts. We decided to go with a laminate from Home Depot. Being from the north, we thought hard woods (bamboo being our choice) were the way to go. Lo and behold, Florida humidity makes laminates more desirable. So, we went with the laminate, which would be longer lasting. Empire today, who was having a 60% off sale, was still priced more than double the cost of our floors. We went with the cheaper option, from Home Depot. The amazing installation team from Tile Styles (3rd party contractor of Home Depot), finished our job in one day!!!! Four Bedrooms! They were very polite, silly, and we were very pleased with their work.
Other updates include the guest bathroom. I apologize for the picture quality, I'm working on it, lol.
My newest update, and certainly my favorite so far, is the guest bedroom! We went with a sofa sleeper from Rooms to Go, in a Slate color. You wouldn't believe how difficult it was to find a grey or black sofa (non-leather), with a sleeper, in Florida! The color theme in there will be black, white and grey with pops of purple.

Well, those are our latest updates. Our bedroom furniture was not in stock and won't be in until July, but, oooh, I can't wait, lol! I'll do a big "reveal" online. Also, I realize our walls are lacking the love. We want to make sure things are in their permanent home before hanging things. We're also looking for great wall art too! Thanks so much for stopping by!

So, let me just put this out there-I LOVE IKEA! But, I have to say, our friendship is going to be on standby for a bit! Why? Well, it all started with a beautiful scraproom plan. As seen on Pinterest (just search Expedit), the Expedit storage system has become the go-to, cheap, eye-pleasing storage solution! They even have an awesome desk addition! So, as I began planning for my scraproom, I decided that my desk would be made from Expedit. Here is what the scraproom looks like.

Sorry, apparently I didn't take a picture before the following story ensued!

I already had some of those cubes from Target/Michael's for storage, so just a functional desk would be perfect. I figured if I matched it up with the shorter expedit, it could sit in the middle of the room, I could have friends over and all would be glorious. So, on my first trip, I came home with half...the four shelf expedit, the desk, unfortunately was out of stock. A few days later, we made the 40 minute trek back up to IKEA.

Once we had the desk, I went to work....an hour or so later, I began cursing like a sailor. Without any warnings on the packaging, words from the sales clerks, etc, I had purchased two items that did not fit together! Exciting!

Although, it did look really pretty!!!

So, back to IKEA yesterday for the taller shelf (8 holes) that would destroy my idea of a center island, but would fit with my already assembled desk. So today, as I began to open the box, I discovered that one of the items in the box was warped, and discolored!

The box wasn't wet, nor were the liner papers in between...ugh!!!!!!!! Another red flag! I called IKEA...after a half hour on hold, they tell me I need to bring the piece back to the store! She was very nice and suggested I ask for compensation since this will be my fourth trip up there! Well, the high of owning our own home lasted a good while, but alas, the reality of being a homeowner has smacked us in the face (twice)! To begin with, one of the largest items on our to do list, the flooring in the four bedrooms, seemed to be costing us a bit more than we budgeted for. Fortunately, after speaking with some people at work (thank you kind, smart people), I realized that we were jumping into a price that was insane. While we knew it was high, we never had anything to compare it to. Since that was settled, we felt a lot of relief!
Dun, Dun Dun....after enjoying a day at Disney, Steve and I went to the new house to do some painting....we walked in...to 86 degree heat. Now, for Florida, that doesn't seem high, but it was in the 70's outside.
Yep, you got it, the AC is not working properly. Now, we have to wait until Monday to see about a repairman to come out. A very nice friend came over and, after speaking with her brother, an AC repairmen, told us that it may be the compressor motor. We are hoping, praying, that the fix is cheap. Our pockets have not had time to recover from the money put down on our house.
While we sweat it out, literally and figuratively, how many of you have dealt with similar scenarios? Any advice?
Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but I HATE wallpaper borders. Not the looks (though they aren't my style), but man, have you ever tried to remove those suckers?! At Home Depot, the paint man Tim, responded with, "That's unfortunate," when I asked how to remove them. He told me to get DIF, a paper scorer, and a paper scraper.
A little while later we were on our way. We got to our new home, Friday night to discover that the electricity, and water were turned off. A night off, we figured, and we'd get it turned on the next day....NOPE...apparently the utility commission doesn't even have a phone service on the weekends, let alone can they start service! UGH! So, Steve and I meandered over thinking we'd get a bunch done in the day time.
Thankfully the back bedroom wallpaper was adhesive backed and very easy to remove. So we painted that room. PURRRTTTY!!!! This room is gonna be my craft room. Then the trouble started...I decided to try to de-wallpaper the master bathroom. Why I chose a room with no windows to work in on a seriously hot day with no AC or water to drink, I have no idea. Anywho...I learned a few things. When removing wallpaper:

keep things well ventilated

pull the top layer off before applying DIF. This is the colorful layer (with pineapples, or flowers, or continents in our case), See Photo below.

You can see the top layer vs the paper layer pretty well in this photo

after, spray DIF heavily on the paper.

use a paper scraper to remove paper

YOU DON'T need to score the paper, at least in our experience, it only hindered things.

This is only one third of the border!!!

So, I learned these tricks because I spent five hours Saturday night throwing EVERYTHING up out of my stomach, and had only removed about five feet of border.Partially my fault for the dehydration, but I should have gotten way more completed for all my hard work! SOOOO, not worth it. We discovered the tricks throughout the next day.

Here is a photo of our lovely home! We don't mind the green, but a neighbor has already requested we paint! (We have a bunch of other things to do first!)
So, that was such a huge hurdle, it still doesn't seem real. Sorry it's taken me so long to get this posted (there's another one I've started to follow soon after). We've been trying to get the pictures sent over/paint/de-wallpaper, etc). Thanks for stopping by!!!Following My Dreamshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03093709734990365423noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6763637641597278966.post-44496867759592058312012-05-01T21:03:00.001-04:002012-05-01T21:04:25.316-04:00Bamboo vs. CorkSo, as I mentioned before, we are closing on our HOUSE in 2 days!!!!! Anywho, we are definitely going to have to change the flooring in the Master bedroom. As of right now we are looking into the Eco-friendly option of bamboo. We've been searching bamboo vs cork here: www.contempofloorcoverings.com; www.ehow.com. We also watched some informative videos over at lumberliquidators.com

We are thinking a lighter shade right now. Tell me your thoughts.Of course...price is always something to factor (especially since we have to buy a refrigerator too!)

AGHHH!!!! I just cant wait....the surreal feeling is starting to clear up, now I know we are so close!!!!
Over the past weekend, my hubby and I flew home (Thursday) for my best friend Casey's wedding. It was absolutely gorgeous! My friend and her hubby were the happiest people around! And they looked amazing! The hall and church were so beautiful with exposed beams. I wish the weekend/wedding didn't end so quickly! It was so nice to see friends and her family (who are practically my own)! We had a wonderful time, but before we knew it, it was back to Florida Sunday afternoon for work on Monday! I miss my friends already! I also wish I had time to spend with family! What a whirlwind!
This week is going to be crazy as well since we will be CLOSING on our house this Thursday! I plan on posting some pics of the exterior of the house as soon as possible! YAY! What a great week!!! How was your weekend????
Now that we know we are going to have a home (much sooner than we last thought!) We have finally started to really think about paint colors. Right now the master bedroom is lavender walls with a wallpaper border and magenta (ish) carpets (not our style). We are hoping to get bamboo flooring and we are currently thinking a soft grey for the walls. The rooms colors are going to be very spa-like (white, grey, blue, khaki). Do you have a favorite shade? Brand? I was very overwhelmed at all the "Shades of Grey" at Lowe's yesterday! lol. PS...am I spelling grey correctly? I always get confused about the e or the a.....tee heee!!!!

I will definitely be posting some before and afters once we have the house! (plus fun ones of us with the keys and being dorks!) I just don't feel right posting the ones we have of the current owner's stuff. They are a very nice couple (so we've been told) and I feel bad for the situation they are in. We finally have it! I want to shout it from the rooftops! I've heard so many horror stories of going past the date, and since we've waited so long, it all seems so surreal! I can't believe we are going to be homeowners!!!! How wonderful will that be!? Yippeeeeeee!!! As of May 3rd, Steve and I will have our home. We are going to overlap our apartment and the house for a month just to try to get things in order (ie painting!) before we have to move things around!
So much so that my husband told me we'll never get to go all the places on my list, lol. It's not even that long! Anyways, I figured I'd share...in order of when I'd like to do them

Hawaii (no explanation necessary)

Mexico (see previous blog entry here)

Arizona (Navajo Falls-do yourself a favor and check it out, beautiful!)

New Orleans, LA

Italy/Greece (big time savings!)

Egypt /safari elsewhere in Africa

Australia

Paris (newly added today!)

See, it's only a little list, right? ha ha! Some are, of course, easier to obtain than others. But, if I know about them, I'm more likely to save for them, right???? Oh, he just needs to sell a script, or two! ha ha! What travel destinations are on your bucket list? Have you been to any of these locations? We received an email saying that the short sale negotiator (aka the seller's realtor) received written approval on the lower appraisal amount! Now, we are just waiting on all of the official loan info on our end to go through (for the new, lower amount)! This could be as early as next week!!!!! WHAT!!!! you heard it right. Since we've seen so many ups and downs, we are hesitant to get tooooo excited yet. The good news is that, we are going to have this house! the question is when....will it be June like we thought just last week, or could it be April? I guess we will find out soon...or will it be later? ha ha! Either way, we are feeling good!!!!Following My Dreamshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03093709734990365423noreply@blogger.com0
